See how CyberCity 3D is using Cesium to stream 3D buildings and other GIS data in a virtual globe environment right in your browser … without a plugin.
I find the demo a little slow to load (wait about a minute before using). You can check out Cesium’s other demos too. The Chrome browser is recommended.
Not a particularly fun topic, however, this interactive map of murder rates around the world uses a spinnable/clickable globe, graphs, and various widgets to get to the information you are interested in. You can click on a country to see its murder count in a specific year, and for some countries the weapon most commonly used. You can download the data too.

If you are using ArcGIS Pro 1.0, it looks like there is a bug that causes certain fields to be set to null when using the field calculator on a feature service. For more information and the workarounds, visit Knowledge Base article KB 44521.
