The Library of Congress will have a virtual introduction to the world’s largest map library, focusing on collections and resources accessible online from anywhere. 2023 SCAG Scholarship Program

The SCAG Scholarship Program offers a $4,000 scholarship award for seven high school seniors or community college students from the SCAG region (and potentially two additional scholarship awards that are not tied to a specific county but may be awarded at the Regional Council’s discretion). Recipients may also have the opportunity to meet with elected officials and practicing planners to learn more about careers in public service.

Free GIS Field Applications using UAS on Saturday Oct 22, 9am to Noon at the Robert Redford Sustainability Center / Bernard Field Station in Claremont. We’ll be covering aerial survey mapping workflow, applications for GIS, sharing resources for obtaining the FAA107 to commercially use sUAV and hands on drone use.

GIS @ Rio Hondo College

Join us for a new Fall semester of 2022.  GIS Courses are scheduled for both online, and hybrid (one evening a week with the option to attend virtually) including frequent optional field exercises.  The semester starts on August 20th.  

Interested in a new course? GIS for Public Works (GIS 222) with instructor Sean Christian PE with 30 years of GIS experience with Los Angeles County Sanitation. Other course offerings include Introduction to GIS (GIS120), Intermediate GIS (GIS220), Surveying w/ Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (GIS150), Cartography (GIS221), Crime Mapping (GIS 281), and Geospatial Programming (Python / GIS280).  The campus GIS labs are open on campus and field trips are scheduled for Fridays and weekends.

The MSGISci is a 1-year, 30-unit MS degree program offered through the Department of Geography. Classes are scheduled on weeknights and weekends to accommodate working professionals.
