Well, it has been a while since our last meeting.  I think it’s time for one!

Our next SoCalGIS meeting will be hosted by CyberCity 3D.  They will be demonstrating their state-of-the-art 3D Geospatial Building Modeling and new 3D Streaming Maps services.  Check out their new website .

Lunch will be provided!  So come early and network during lunch before our meeting presentations.  Here is the agenda.

SoCalGIS Meeting September 16th
11:30am to about 2pm
Round Table Pizza
4330 Redondo Beach Blvd., Torrance

The meeting room is in the back of the restaurant.  Plenty of free parking and I believe there will be wifi available too.

If you plan on attending, please RSVP to me so I can get a head count.

Also, I am looking for others to present their work on anything GIS.  It would be nice to see what other cities or the county are doing.  Just let me know if you are interested in presenting.  Thanks!  -mike

LA County Assessor Maps Have Moved

Just an FYI to all City GIS staff in LA County.  If you have GIS applications or data that have links to the LA County Assessor maps, you might find them broken now.  It looks like LA County has moved the links since they updated their Property Assessment Information System application here.

For example, this old PDF link:

has been replaced with this new one:

Burbank has a few apps that are broken now.  I bet you do too!  -mike

CSULB Geography Get Together at TOP GUN

If you graduated with a Geography degree from CSULB, attended some classes in Geography or GIS, still there trying to figure out when it will all end, know someone from CSULB Geography, know Frank, know someone who knows Frank, had the privilege of taking a class “taught” by Frank, suffered in Frank’s class, heard a story about a guy named Frank, or now you are just curious who this Frank guy is anyway, then come join us at our annual CSULB Geography get together at TOP GUN, Wednesday night around 6pm during the ESRI Conference in San Diego next week.

Hope to see you all there!  And yes, you too Frank!  -mike

Another Great Meeting!

Thanks to all that attended.  It was a full house and a great meeting. Thanks to Mark Greninger at LA County for organizing the meeting and to LA County Public Works for hosting the location. The talk by Scott Gregory from the State of California and the Q&A was very interesting. Near the end of the meeting, Aerospace Corporation demonstrated their UAS. After some technical issues getting it started, they were able to get it off the ground and fly around in the courtyard.

Links to presentation documents should be available soon on the SoCalGIS Meetings page.
