GIS TECHNICIAN – City of Newport Beach
This position performs responsible geographic information systems (GIS) operations tasks in support of the function or division to which assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives general supervision from division management staff.
Experience: Three years of responsible experience in geography, surveying, computer mapping and database, and/or CADD systems. Experience using Geographic Information Systems and ESRI software (ArcGIS 10.0 or higher preferred) to create accurate maps, data, and applications through the use of recorded maps, survey data, deed descriptions, field collection, and/or aerial imagery and Geocortex experience to configure and publish map applications is highly desirable.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in geography, cartography, computer science, CADD, surveying, engineering or related fields. An Associate’s degree or higher is desirable.
License/Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license.
